Smigelskiy-Grinberg Duo
Established in 2011, the Smigelskiy-Grinberg duo is an impassioned ensemble consisting of two established Russian-born Juilliard alumni, cellist Serafim Smigelskiy and pianist Yelena Grinberg. In Spring 2011, they gave their New York debut recital at The Roerich Museum, where they performed sonatas by Boccherini, Beethoven, and Brahms to a highly enthusiastic audience. They were subsequently invited to perform at the historic Players Club of New York City, for which they were praised as being “two excellent young musicians…whose four hands could have belonged to one person, that’s how integrated they were.”
During 2011-2012 Season, the duo has showcased a complete cycle of Beethoven’s works for cello and piano at The Steinway Hall and at the Carnegie Room Concert Series at The Nyack Library. Their forthcoming project is a special two-part program entitled Hommage to J. S. Bach, to be presented at The Maiden Lane Center and the WMP Hall as well as an All-Russian Program at Steinway Hall.
